
The Gould Trading Floor was officially opened on June 17th 1999.
It is housed in Michael G. DeGroote School of Business, new wing
(MGD 122A).
The new Gould Trading Floor comprises of twenty-one
state-of-the-art Reuters stations, two Pro-Quad Bloomberg
terminals and two Trans-Lux boards delivering
"real-time" data feeds from all North American
Exchanges. The GTF is a unique market-learning environment,
where students can acquire market experience, and markets
insights right on the premises of McMaster University. The GTF
represents an astounding opportunity for students who want a
career in financial services industry. It is a teaching and
research tool that serves students and faculty, and brings
significant benefits to Canada's financial markets and the
community at large.
The Gould Trading Floor is a powerful, sophisticated tool in the
hands of faculty, where academic theory comes to life through
"real" and "simulated" exercises and
projects. The GTF brings realism to the classroom, and offers
students professional training through a unique
"Trader-in-Residence" program whereby senior
"traders" from the financial community are available
to mentor and inspire students bringing added realism to the
Centre.
